What's Goin' on in my Studio, My Head...

This is my first plein air piece post surgery - done back in May. I added the mailbox and tweeted it a bit in studio but it’s 90% location painting. I’ve been doing less outdoor work and more studio work in the last several months too. I’ve rearranged my studio for still life painting and have been working more from photo references with watercolor. It all just feels right.

Long story short - about the time of my last blog post my cardiologist discovered a Very large, congenital hole between two chambers of my heart. I was experiencing heart failure and was exhausted beyond description. So I had open heart surgery in January to fix the hole.
I had a couple of complications, but am now quite recovered and feeling better than I ever have in my entire life! Thank God - and I do!
So I’m getting back to painting and posting and catching up with regular life. Everything seems a bit different now. It’s hard to explain but things are clearer and fresher. People more precious. Exercise more invigorating. Paint more glorious and God in the Trinity infinitely more magnificent! The brushes are just getting warmed up!
